Hi ~ I am starting the 5 day test on Monday. I have never used a protein powder, and was wondering if anyone could recommend one? Do they have an overwhelming taste? I really don't know what to look for. Thanks for any info.

Everyone's pallate is different. For me, I really like the Nectars brand. They mix with 10oz of cold water and they are more like juice than a shake. They have flavors that taste like fruit punch, pina colada, cherry, iced tea, cappucino (not my fave), lemonade, etc. They are 23g of protein and no carbs or fat.
I recently also got hooked on Isopure's Dutch Chocolate. I use that in the morning with milk and banana or peanut butter and put it in the blender to make a shake. I think that's 25g of protein but for some reason I'm blanking.
Anyway, those are my faves....others will have more suggestions! Good luck! I'm not Day 4 of the DPT and it's awesome, I know you'll have great results.

Thank you for taking the time to respond Mere. I decided to go with Muscle Milk ready to drink shakes to take to work, and then Muscle Milk vanilla powder to use at home. Gosh, I have half a day in already! Evening is always my worst time, so I'm guessing I will be going to bed really early tonight and tomorrow night!

mitcham, Here's my opinion about protein powders and I'm joined by lots of others here.
I would strongly reccommend ordering CyroSport MuscleMilk, protein Powder Supplement Powder
from (do not second guess my shopping prowess!)
www.Vitacost.com here's the link for Vanilla $19.87 (This VERY PRODUCT sells for $59-$69 at GNC and other health stores)
http://www.vitacost.com/CytoSport-Muscle-Milk-Vanilla-Cream here's for the chocolate $19.87
http://www.vitacost.com/CytoSport-Muscle-Milk-Chocolate-Milk Vitacost has
lowest price and ships ANY SIZE ORER for a FLAT shipping rate of $4.99
It's worth the wait of a few days.
This is the best stuff anywhere, preferred by most as
non-grainy and highest quality ingredients.
Also, mixes better than any other!

I like the Xrated that I get at HiHealth. Both the french vanilla and triple chocolate are very good.
Hi Health only has stores in Arizona, but they do have a website.

I agree with Mickeefynn...I have tried EVERYTHING, and love Muscle milk...I have several flavors...
I also like the Nectar's stuff for something that is a bit lighter sometimes...mmm!!!
Best of luck!

There's actually a really simple reason I chose Muscle Milk - I was using coupons for other things at Target which gave me overage, so the Muscle Milk powder and the two packs of ready to drink ended up being free!
I had no idea protein power was so expensive - never bought the stuff before.
Half way through my second day today - I have never looked forward to having scrambled eggs tomorrow so much in my life!!
I am so glad I found this site - I actually found it by searching for a forum for people feeling like their gastric bypass was a failure and was thinking about having it redone. After reading the posts here, I realized the failure is mine alone, there is nothing wrong with my pouch - I simply learned how to eat around it and ate what was comfortable.
I have never told anyone this before other than my doctor. I weighed 413 when I first met with the surgeon, and I weighed 38x something on the day of my surgery in Dec 2003. The lowest I got after surgery was 28X something, but I was looking pretty good and I guess I was pretty happy there. I mean, I could fit into a movie theater seat, a restaurant booth, etc., you all know what I mean. Now 5 years later I am back up to 350 something, and I feel like a complete failure. I mean, why did I go through an entire year of dealing with insurance, and psych evals, etc., and then go through major surgery, to lose only 30 pounds in the end? That's crazy.
My surgeon was out of state, and I had no follow up. They spent very little time with me telling me how to eat after, so I basically ate whatever I could get down. And over the next 5 yrs I got very skilled at eating around it! No wonder I gained! I am learning how to eat properly from this site, and I thank everyone who posts here. One post I read said two bites protein, one bite vegetable. Things like that are very helpful to me.
Thank you.

Hey! Have I welcomed you yet? Hi and Welcome, Mitcham! I like Muscle Milk, but use the Body Fortress Vanilla because it's so less expensive! 14 bucks for a huge bucket of it. I mix it with water, ice cubes and instant decaf for an afternoon power boost. Like a 4 dollar frappacino.
Anyway, welcome, welcome you have a mighty inspiring story and I wish you all the best with the five day thingy.
