crazy mo
Hi, I'm Maureen and had my surgery in October of 2002. I had a duodenal switch and had major complications after it as I developed a leak and was in the hospital for 6 months. I was 311 lbs. and got down to 125 but that was a tad too low. I gained a few pounds and leveled off at about 140, which was great. I've now gained 20 pounds and can not stand it. I eat non-stop and don't exercise enough. Oh and I have an extremely disfunctional family, so I am always stressed. I hope to start the pouch diet next week (this is a holiday weekend and you know who has to cook). Any suggestions would be great. I'm so happy that I found this site, it's not like theres alot of people out there that know what we go through.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Mo. Glad you are going to do the 5dpt, but you need to know it is not a diet. It is a tool to get you back in line nutritionally and help you to relearn to eat right. If you think of it as a diet and you don't lose weight during the 5 days you will feel defeated. Reallign your thinking so you aren't back here posting that you are frustrated that you didn't lose weight on it.

Mo,

I'm so glad you're here! I had a RNY 15 mos ago,but have been in the weight battle over 50 yrs.. This recovery from obesity is so involved that a site like this is crucial to our success I truly believe. There is such a wealth of experience and reassurance here, it is unparalelled. Keep posting! I look forward to knowing you.

Hi Mo. Welcome to the neighbourhood and I'm excited for you because you're going to find so much support and encouragement here to help you lose the regain. Do look in to the 5 Day Pouch Test won't you? I haven't done it myself as I'm still in the losing stage but there's plenty of people in here to help you. You only have to ask.

Good luck with your new challenges. Take it one day at a time and baby steps. It can be done.

Keep us posted.

Welcome Mo,
I saw your name and WHOOPEEEEEE!!!!...another guy around to shoot the bull with.....oh well, I am glad to meet you regardless. I took a bit of a sabbatical from the site for the last few months and may not be able to post much in a few weeks either when the farm gets going this spring, but until then, I remain humble at your service... I'm not much use, but in the area of weird kids and strange family, I'm an expert.. hehe.

Julie...sunshine of the hood... that's...sweet.

I need a moniker too.

How about Stu, redneck of the hood?

Or Too Slim Stu, politically incorrect of the hood, seeing as how I'm a stanch conservative right winger and decidedly over educated underutilized mouthpiece of the hood... hmmm, I'll have to think about that..

Kaye!! Another post to quench the hungry desire to metamorphize out of my butterfly status and on to growly gorilla status!!! hehe

Hello there, Mo, so glad that you found us. Your story sounds like you've been through it all with the wls. Now you start a new journey with it on Monday. This plan will work for you and you'll finally know peace with your pouch. I'm rooting for you. I know you can do it and I wish you all the best. We're a friendly bunch, and I hope you'll be as happy here as I've always been.

hugs and hope.
