Hi All,
My morning email included this link from
WebMD, a good friend in better health! Click on the link to
find the WLS Quiz and see how you rate! It checks
your health, well-being and knowledge of what it
takes to be a good candidate for WLS. Even if you're
already on the losing side, this quiz is an eye opener.
Take the quiz and watch the instructional videos!
Tell us how you scored! What do you THINK?!

Well, I'm almost 2 years out and took the test anyway based on my own experience and I sucked. My score is 60/100 and my knowledge was 20%. I guess I should have mine undone and get back to 332 where I belong.....
Sometimes the surveys are just too generic...

I'm impressed and glad that someone is trying to make people actual answer these kinds of questions. I agree with Stu, some of the questions are too generic (like the first one--I've used food in ALL of those ways!), but I think that it's a good beginning.
I got an 83%, and I am glad that I ended up having the surgery. When I clicked off all the things I'd tried to lose weight before, it was very affirming for me that I made the right decision.
Some of the windows you have to scroll down to see the whole set of choices! Don't rush.

I did the survey w/ the mindset I had pre-op. It said I was knowledgeable and a good candidate for WLS. I guess I'll keep using it!

I took the test and got 99/100. Which I couldn't believe, not being one who does well on any kind of test. It said I might be a candidate depending on my health. Diabetes & High BP. These are the reasons I am having WLS.

I got a 67% and I am sure glad my doctor didnt use this test or I would not have been given the ok. Come to think of it I had to force his hand to get approval because he said I would never reach my goal. I wish I could talk to him now.

I scored 94pts out of 100!
I liked this quiz. Shows me that I retained all the research I did pre-op! My eyes are on the prize. I am in it to win it!

Interesting. I was a little miffed that when I checked "yes" on the planning to have children that it immediately ended for me and basically told me to not get pregnant after surgery due to the nutritional deficiencies. Bull. I got pregnant at 16 months post op & had a WONDERFUL pregnancy. My weight loss after my RNY is what allowed me to get pregnant in the first place! Now with my very healthy daughter 19m old we're trying for baby #2.
So...I had to go back and check "no" for the pregnancy part. But I was a little confused. Do I answer the questions in the mindset of when I was pre op? Or now?
I answered them as I was pre op & scored :
a health score of 26/40.
a well being score of 19/40
a knowledge score of 12/20
an overall score of 57/100.
Now...I took it again in the mindset of me now...a 3.5 year post op (and this time for the knowledge questions...I took my time to really read them...not just paraphrase)...
I scored:
a health score of 40/40.
a well being score of 40/40
knowledge score of 20/20
an overall score of 100/100
Still miffed about the pregnancy thing. Just because you have WLS doesn't mean that you can't get pregnant! Granted you need to wait some time...getting pregnant immediately after surgery isn't a good idea. But as long as you're at least 12 months out there's no reason why pregnancy can't be done.
Ok...'nuff said.
