I have been nauseated and gagging for about a little over a week now. Had a scope done this morning, MD thought I had a stricture but it wasn't that. He said my stomach looked a little inflamed but no stricture. I am at work now and when I try to eat anything I start gagging and foaming. I am beginning to wonder if it will ever go away. I lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks and he says that is too rapid at this point, but if you can't eat without being sick it is hard to want to continue trying. He said that I looked healthier than 99% of patients because I am trying really hard to get my protein in, but I just feel so sick all the time. I just cannot try anymore tonite, any suggestions?

I am sorry that you are feeling this way..... I cant offer you much advice on how to overcome this but wanted to send you a hug love0028.gif and let you know that you will be OK ...... I will keep you in my prayers...hugs and hope that you feel better soon ..... stay focused on the fact that your doctor says that you look healthy and keep taking his advice on what to do he knows whats going to be best for you.....Good luck

What types of foods are you trying to eat? Do you get sick on Protein drinks? Maybe try very bland soft foods or just plain protein drinks until your pouch calms down?

I hope you feel better soon, that feeling is such a yucky feeling.. sad0017.gif

If your tummy is inflamed, maybe you should rest it from solids for a while and just take in cool liquids that would sooth it. Did you doctor prescribe anything like Pepcid or Nexxium, did s/he recommend Prilosec? If s/he did NOT suggest meds, then I would take that as a sign from that you just need to rest your pouch for a few days to let the inflammation go down before trying to put food in there again.

If your doctor feels that you're able to take nourishment, maybe you could try sticking to thinned down protein drinks mixed with an ice slushie to make like a little milk shake. If that tastes too strong, thin it down. Clear liquids, sugar free jello. Treat your pouch like you just had surgery again until after a day or two, then maybe try a little thicker liquid like yogurt, scrambled egg, tofu--something lite.

Go back to the beginning and start over and let the little pouch have a break. Your mind will be screaming, "We're going to starve!" But just keep telling yourself it's only a couple of days, you'll be fine.

Best wishes.

Sorry you're feeling icky. Glad the test didn't show anything too serious.
Like Sandi, I'd say to go back to the things that will be less irritating to let your little pouch get better.
I've read a couple posts on here where people said they had a lot of nausea for awhile, but it did finally get better. They also said it is worth it.
Hang in there!
